The Shakespearian Stories

I have been reading the Shakespeare Stories and I am going to share a bit about them,
Most people have heard of the famous William Shakespeare, but some people don't know a lot of his plays, so I am going to show you some plays. His language is a bit different to ours so I will highlight any hard words or names. so here are some of his plays: The taming of the shrew,  Much ado about nothing, The Tempest,  King Lear, Hamlet, As you like it, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Richard |||, Henry V,  The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra,  Twelfth night, A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM, Julius Caeser, Macbeth. Now I will explain what the highlighted things mean:
1. A shrew is a sharp-tongued woman.
2. A tempest is a wild and violent storm.
3. King Lear is a king that gets betrayed by two of his daughters.
4. Hamlet is a prince who pretends to be mad so that he can see if his uncle killed his father.
5. Othello is a black skinned man, he gets lied to and does a terrible sin.
6. Romeo is a Montague and he loves Juliet who is in the Capulet family.
7. Juliet is a Capulet, and she loves Romeo who is in the Montague family.
8. Richard ||| is the Duke of Gloucester who kills people because he wants to be king.
9. Henry V is a king (at a youngish age) who starts a war. And wins the hearts of all his subjects.
10. A merchant is a very rich man.
11. Antony is a general who falls in love with Cleopatra.
12. Cleopatra is the queen of Egypt who falls in love with Antony.
13. Julius Caeser is a general(and NEARLY gets to be king) but sadly people kill him.
14. Macbeth is a general and becomes king but commits LOTS of sins and is haunted by ghosts.
So those are most of the books from the Shakespeare Stories. Hope you enjoy Shakespeare as much as I do. In my eyes, he was a brilliant writer! By Charlotte.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Hello all and welcome to Beantown, where I’ll be reviewing The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
This is a good book with beautiful hand-drawn images, and we’re very lucky to have a signed copy right here in our school library.
The Invention of Hugo Cabret is a work of historical fiction, based on the real-life French filmmaker Georges Méliès. The book's divided into two parts, including an epilogue.  It’s written and illustrated by Brian Selznick, (an American) and won the 2008 Caldecott Medal.
The plot goes something like this:
Somewhere in Paris, in the 1930s, Hugo and his dad find an old automaton at the museum where the father works.  They decide to fix it, however, Hugo’s father is killed in a fire in the museum where he works, so his uncle takes him into a train station to teach him to fix clocks.  Hugo’s uncle soon vanishes, but Hugo keeps the clocks running and survives on baked goods left out by the people at the station. Hugo leaves the station, and discovers...
If I go any further, I’ll be telling too much.
Go read it yourself!

5/5 hats.

Five Run Away Together

Five Run Away Together is the third book in the Famous Five series written by Enid Blyton. In this book Julian, Dick, Anne, Georgina ( George ) and their favourite dog, Timothy, run away from home when they were left in the care of the nasty Sticks. The five run away to Kirrin Island to escape from the Sticks only to find themselves in a spine-tingling adventure. My favourite part of the book is when the five discover that the island was being used by kidnappers. Who were the kidnappers? Why had they come here? The five had to find out. Join in on their adventure to find out more.

Rangers Apprentice

Rangers Apprentice Review:

The story is set in the medieval times in a fantasy world.
The story begins with a boy named Will who grows up in the castle ward from a young age. Will had never known who his parents were and has no memories about him. The story follows his life and shows all the adventures he goes on.

The story is smartly wrote so you can picture whats happening inside your head. John Flanagan does a good job showing the emotions of all the characters throughout the story.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure stories and would give it a 5/5
